Please see below for information on registering your child for Kindergarten or requesting early enrollment for Kindergarten.

Did you know the Connecticut General Assembly recently passed legislation that raises the minimum age for automatic entry into Kindergarten. Specifically, the legislation now states that children need to turn five on or before September 1 of the school year in order to be automatically eligible to enroll in kindergarten. For incoming Kindergarteners, this means their 5th birthday will occur on or before September 1, 2024. However, parents and guardians may request early enrollment for children who will turn five after September 1, 2024.

CSDNB will comply with the new legislation. We are currently seeking information from the parents and guardians of current preschoolers and ask parents and guardians to use our School Entry Interested Form: 2024-2025 to indicate your intentions for your child by June 30, 2024. Please note, this is NOT a registration form. THIS IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY TO HELP US BEST PLAN!

K Assessment Appointments: Please use one of the links below (based on date) to schedule a K assessment for student wanting to enter K next year and are born BEFORE January 1, 2020

Registration for new kindergarten students for the 2024-2025 school year occurs through an online registration process. New student registration is only for those who are beginning in CSDNB for 2024-2025.
If your child will be five on or before September 1, 2024, please use the following links to register for Kindergarten. If your child will turn five after September 1, 2024, please see the section above ‘Early Enrollment to Kindergarten’ or follow the steps to register for Preschool.

Required Documents
1. Proof of Residency (Current): Mortgage, Lease, gas, light or cable bill (only one). The bill must be in the parent's name. If the student and the parent/guardian are living with someone, the person who owns or rents the home must complete/sign the Certificate of Residency form.
2. Birth Certificate (long)/Passport
3. Complete Medical/Immunizations/Physical
4. A copy of the IEP/504 plan if the student is receiving Special Services
5. Parent/Legal Guardian Photo ID
6. Guardianship papers (if applicable)
7. DCF-603 Form (if applicable)
8.Preschool only: Proof of income; 2x biweekly paystubs or 4x weekly paystubs, tax return or any other source of income

Should I create an account?
If you've never completed an online Returning Student Registration, you should create an account. This allows you to securely save your work and come back at a later time if necessary. You can use your email address or cell phone number. If you already have an account, you can sign in and complete the form. (You should use the same account to complete forms for multiple children.)

I've completed the form, now what?
When you have finished entering your information, click Submit. This will send all of the information you've entered to the school. If you cannot click on this button, you will need to make sure that you have answered all required questions.

What if I have more than one student in the Consolidated School District of New Britain? Do I need to do this for each child?
Yes, because you'll need to provide information that is specific for each child. We recommend that you submit one Returning Student Registration and then start another – this will allow you to "snap over" shared family information, which will save you time.

I don't understand what a question is asking.
